Welcome to Newlistic Wellness & Beauty - a boutique Detox and Rejuvenation practice in the heart of Silicon Valley.
Holistic approach to someone's health and wellbeing is characterized by looking at the whole person, not just at physical symptoms or emotional wellbeing. The 5 aspects of holistic health are physical, emotional, social, spiritual and mental.
When you are stressed, anxious, upset or you may not have a healthy diet, the body reacts in a way that might tell you that something is not right. You may feel irritated, you might develop fatigue, high blood pressure, headaches, a stomach ulcer, back pain, constipation or diarrhea, shortness of breath, and you may have trouble falling or staying asleep, you may also find that it is hard to stay focused....
Stress is likely one of the most dangerous toxins for the mind and body. Stress is defined as a state of mental or emotional strain caused by adverse circumstances. Chronic stress damages the energy powerhouses of your body, your mitochondria. It reduces the ability to metabolize and detoxify. Stress can increase your toxic load by increasing your cravings for high fat, high sugar foods.
Move forward towards a healthier and happier version of you or just maintain your healthy self....

Colon Hydrotherapy
Colon Hydrotherapy, also known as colonic or colonic irrigation, is a completely natural treatment of detoxifying the colon with purified water. It is an internationally popular form of alternative healing.
One of the foundational beliefs driving the practice is "autointoxication," the state by which prolonged exposure to the substances - due to waste in the colon - is believed to compromise not only your digestive health but your immune health as well. By clearing these substances from the body, colonics positively influence intestinal flora and your overall health.
Proponents of colonic hydrotherapy strongly believe that the procedure can maintain optimal colonic health and help in a variety of physical ailments. Colonics are often promoted as an effective means of detoxification, normalizing bowel function, treating inflammatory bowel diseases, and promoting weight loss
A quick jump into the history: Colon cleanse is a practice that’s been around since ancient times, and the benefits are based on the premise that digestive waste can be a toxin to the body.
The earliest recorded historical documents referring to colon cleansing come from India. Historians also trace colon cleansing back to the ancient Egypt. There are numerous reports of the frequent use of colon cleansing by the Egyptians. A papyrus of the 14th century B.C., currently stored in the Royal Museum of Berlin, describes methods of preparing colon cleansing. An ancient Greek historian Herodotus ( 484 -425 B.C.) wrote, "The Egyptians clear themselves on 3 consecutive days, every month seeking after health by emetics and enemas for they think that all disease comes to man from his food."
The "father of medicine" Hippocrates (460-370 B.C.) and his followers also advocated health by colon cleansing.
In modern days, this treatment is done by many people every day, from famous to ordinary, of different ages. You may think, "Why would I want to clean my colon?" This treatment may seem a bit unusual to you at first. However, learning about the many unique benefits of this treatment will show you that it is a very natural way to take care of your wellbeing.
What happens during a treatment? A professional, called a colon hydrotherapist , with specialized equipment performs the colon hydrotherapy while you rest on a treatment table. Using FDA-approved colon hydrotherapy equipment, warm water is gently flushed into the colon under gravity or very low pressure, thus stimulating the muscle movements of the bowel in order to get rid of toxins and waste.
A small disposable tube (a medical grade device), called a speculum, allows a colon hydrotherapist to introduce warm filtered water into the colon. As the water enters the colon, it causes a feeling of fullness for a short amount of time, followed by a relaxing feeling as the colon is emptied. The speculum allows for the safe entrance of water and the release of waste and toxins.
The introduction of filtered and temperature regulated water into the colon is repeated several times during the treatment. The colon hydrotherapist will perform bodywork on your abdomen in order to ensure that the colon receives a full and effective cleanse. The treatment normally takes around 45+ minutes, and results in a cleaner colon.
Prior to colonic, the colon hydrotherapist will conduct a consultation and go over the medical questionnaire (Forms), also providing a full explanation of the procedure and equipment. The client will be given privacy to get changed before the treatment starts and will be covered completely for the entire treatment session. The toxins and waste are always discreetly drained away without mess or odor.
In our office the top of the line, FDA-approved and recognized as Class II medical device. Colon Hydrotherapy equipment is used. It is operated by a certified colon hydrotherapist. The device has:
Dual sanitation - this allows for complete disinfection of the entire water pathway inside the device.
Filtered and UV-Treated Water - this provides enhanced water quality.
Medical Grade Disposables - this reduces the risk of cross-contamination and allergic reactions.

WONDERING WHAT TO DO BEFORE AND AFTER COLON HYDROTHERAPY?
Before a Session:
-
The days before the appointment eat as many water content foods as possible, examples: raw and cooked green leafy vegetables, raw vegetable drinks and whole grains. This will start hydrating the colon to ease your experience.
-
Try to cut down on all processed foods, examples: white flour products, cheese, dried foods, greasy foods and sugar. These foods have a tendency to dehydrate the colon and can make the experience more challenging.
-
Avoid eating 2 hours before the colon hydrotherapy appointment.
-
Avoid drinking liquids 1 hour before. It can make your bladder full during the colon hydrotherapy session.
-
Avoid all diuretic foods one day prior to your appointment, including; coffee, tea or soda. These can dehydrate and also make the bladder full.
After a Session:
-
It is best to eat light foods that are easy on the digestive system, example; steamed vegetables, soup and light protein (fish, chicken, tofu…), avoiding nuts, salads and icy foods and drinks, since the colon just exercised.
-
Drink more water to continue hydrating.
-
Adding 1 tbsp. of chlorophyll or ¼ tsp. pink salt to your water will help absorption.
-
Adding 2 tbsp. of lemon or 1 tbsp. of apple cider vinegar in your water can help alkalinize.
-
Days following the session should be filled with vegetables (raw and steamed), soup, fruits, whole grains and pure water (not tap). Salads and raw foods have great enzymes and fiber.
-
For better health, avoid anything processed, bottled or canned; sugar, pasteurized dairy and all whites/starches (sugar, flour, rice).

General tips on eliminating toxins:
• Taking regular cardiovascular exercise to build up a bit of sweat helps to eliminate toxins through the circulatory pathways
• Dry brushing massage every day to move the lymphatic system
• Drinking plenty of fluids helps to flush out lymphatic system and move toxins through the kidney system
• Eating foods that you can digest completely before the food turns into gas
• Choosing fibre-rich foods that encourage healthy elimination
• Eating a diet that is appropriate for our body type so we don’t create stress on any one organ in our system
Cleanse your colon!
The purpose of Colon Hydrotherapy is to remove waste and toxins from your colon, to improve and enhance your health and wellbeing primarily by improving the functioning of your digestive system. It needs to be used in combination with other tools, such as healthy diet, stress management, emotional growth, exercise, bodywork, proper breathing, hydration and cleansing.

Hidden in the walls of the digestive system, this “brain in your gut” is revolutionizing medicine's understanding of the links between digestion, mood, health and even the way you think. Scientists call this little brain the enteric nervous system (ENS).

Colon Hydrotherapy FAQs
What is colon's function?
The colon (also known as gut, large intestine or bowel) is a vital part of your personal plumbing system. The tubular organ works around the clock to remove waste products from your body. As part of the digestive system, the colon works alongside organs such as the stomach and small intestine to remove stool and maintain your fluid and electrolyte balance. The entire colon is about 4-6 feet long and about 3 inches in diameter.

What Is Colon Hydrotherapy?
Colon Hydrotherapy, also known as colonic or colon irrigation, is a safe effective method of removing waste and toxins from the large intestine (colon), without the use of drugs. By introducing filtered and temperature regulated water into the colon, the waste is softened and loosened, resulting in its evacuation through natural peristalsis. Modern FDA-approved colon hydrotherapy equipment forms a sealed system that carries away all the waste cleanly and hygienically: no mess, no smell.
How does colon responds to Colon Hydrotherapy?
Colon Hydrotherapy Cleanses the Colon, Exercises the Colon Muscles (having Colonics is like taking your colon to the gym with a personal trainer), Reshapes the Colon (the gentle action of the water, coupled with bodywork techniques of the colon hydrotherapist, helps eliminate bulging pockets of waste and narrowed, spastic constrictions finally enabling the colon to resume its natural shape),Stimulates Reflex Points in the Colon, Hydrates the Whole Body.
How do I prepare for a colon hydrotherapy treatment?
You don’t need to do anything special before your treatment, but for your own comfort you should avoid a heavy meal or drinking a lot immediately before your appointment. You should avoid alcohol.
Does it hurt?
The treatment should not be painful at all. It may feel a little strange as the small tube is inserted, and you may have a natural urge to squeeze it out again, but this passes quickly. Your therapist will then closely control the filling and emptying to ensure that you remain comfortable at all times. Occasionally the colon may contract during the treatment, giving a cramping sensation but this is easily tolerated and passes as soon as the bowel empties again.
What does a colonic feel like?
Most people find the procedure to be quite relaxing, with no discomfort. The colon fills and empties regularly as part of its normal function, so the treatment is nothing new. You may feel varying sensations of fullness and movement in your abdomen throughout the treatment.
What if I am constipated?
If you are particularly constipated, you should ask your hydrotherapist for advice on what you can do beforehand to maximize the benefits of your treatment.
Is there any mess or smell?
None whatsoever. The FDA approved colon hydrotherapy equipment forms a sealed system that carries away all the waste cleanly and hygienically.
How safe is the treatment?
Your safety is the most important. Modern equipment that is used in our facility is FDA approved and constantly maintains the water temperature and pressure within the safe limits. A single use, disposable speculum is used for each treatment. It is in a sealed plastic bag that will be opened in front of you before your session.
Is it habit forming?
No, it is not. The only addictive feature is the well-being it creates.
What is the difference between Colon Hydrotherapy and enemas?
Enemas involve a one-time infusion of water into the lower colon and can be performed on yourself. Colon hydrotherapy involves multiple infusions of water into the colon by trained colon hydrotherapist and with the use of FDA approved colon irrigation equipment. Enemas are used to clean out only lower colon - the sigmoid and rectal areas of the colon. A series of colon-hydrotherapy treatments can clean out and remove impacted material from the whole colon which is about 4-6 feet long. So, the purpose of a colonic is to help with removal of toxins from the body higher up the colon and also to hydrate it. In addition, a colon hydrotherapy promotes peristalsis and helps the colon muscles regain tone therefore assisting the return of regular bowel movements.
The main objective of an enema is to evacuate toxins from the lower colon, while colonics are meant to cleanse a larger portion of the colon. Enemas can also cause your body to become dependent on them in order to have a bowel movement.
Colonic is not habit forming.
Will laxative accomplish the same result?
Laxatives empty the colon short term but are an irritant to the body. Therefore, the body produces a thin watery substance that goes through the colon and leaves behind impacted toxins and waste. Colon hydrotherapy uses pure water and does not irritate the body. One of its tremendous benefits is that it actually hydrates the colon!
Will a treatment completely empty the colon?
No. A mild cleanse will take 2-3 sessions, over the course of one week, depending on the client. We are constantly eating and drinking, so the colon never becomes completely empty. So the goal of colonics is to remove the fecal plaque and other toxins which have accumulated over time, not to try and completely empty the colon of normal every day waste.
What to expect right after the treatment?
In general, as soon as your treatment is completed you may need to use the bathroom to eliminate any remaining water or waste. And then you can carry on with your normal routine. It is possible that you may experience an increase in bowel movements over the first few hours. It's perfectly normal and should not involve any undue urgency or discomfort.
How long does colonic take?
The treatment itself takes about 45-50 minutes, however with preparation time, you’ll need to allow at least 1 hour. Your first treatment will normally take longer (up to 90+ mins) as your therapist will need to review your medical history, explain to you the procedure and assess your current bowel health before proceeding with your treatment.
What kind of water is used for colonic hydrotherapy?
Drinking water from the main supply is used during the treatment. The water is filtered for your complete safety and warmed to body temperature or just above for your comfort.
Is it okay to eat after having a colonic?
After colon hydrotherapy you can continue with your normal daily routine, including eating and drinking. However, you should avoid any foods that you know upset or irritate your stomach and it's better to avoid alcohol.
How many treatments will I need?
This depends on your reason for having a colonic in the first place, as well as how successful the treatment was. Your hydrotherapist will advise you on whether you need further treatments, as well as when and how often you need to return.
